Frequently asked questions…

What is SplatLab?

SplatLab is an immersive paint experience where you can throw, flick, splat, and play with paint in a fun, no-judgement space. It’s all about freedom, expression, and letting go — no rules on creativity, just splats.

Do I need to be artistic?

Not at all.
SplatLab isn’t about being “good” at art — it’s about having fun. Anyone can splat.

What happens during a session?

After a short safety briefing, you’ll head into the splat zone where you’ll use a range of tools to create your own artwork. Our hosts are there to guide, encourage, and keep things safe while you enjoy the chaos.

How long is a session?

Please allow 1.5 hours in total:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your session

  • 1 hour of splatting

  • 15 minutes to de-kit, clean up, and debrief

Late arrival may reduce your splat time

Do you host parties or group bookings?

Yes! We host birthdays, hen parties, team socials, and private group bookings.  If you would like to book a private session then that would be £149.75 for up to 5 people, and then £29.95 per person thereafter.  Please see our individual locations for room capacity.

What happens if someone behaves unsafely?

Our hosts are there to keep sessions fun and safe.
If behaviour becomes unsafe or disruptive, we may issue a warning, pause the session, or remove individuals if necessary. No refunds are given in these cases.

What happens to my artwork?

Your canvas is yours to take home 🎨
We’ll pack it in a box for you to take home straight away.

Can I take photos or videos?

We don’t advise that you have your phones out during a splat sesh.  However, we take lots of photos and videos and give you access to them afterwards.

Will I be on social media?

We may take photos or short videos for marketing, but only with consent. You’re always welcome to opt out.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions are prepared in advance, so cancellations and reschedules are subject to our booking terms. Please check the policy provided at the time of booking.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy. We provide protective clothing, but paint splashes are part of the experience. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.

Is the paint safe?

Yes. We use non-toxic, water-based paints approved for use in our sessions. Safety information is available on request.

Can I change my mind and have a bigger canvas?

You can indeed!  You can upgrade on the day to a larger canvas for a small fee.  You can also choose to upgrade to neon or metallic paints - just let our member of staff know and they’ll sort that out for you before your session starts.

Will I get covered in paint?

Probably 😄
How messy you get is up to you — but splatting is encouraged.  We do provide PPE but we advise you wear suitable clothing that you don’t mind getting painty!

Is SplatLab suitable for children?

Absolutely!
We offer family-friendly sessions with age-appropriate tools and additional safety controls. Children must be supervised by a participating adult at all times. Sessions are suitable from 5yrs up, but we allow 3yrs up in a family group.

Adult-only sessions are also available.

Can we drink alcohol?

Alcohol isn’t permitted unless explicitly agreed in advance as part of a private booking. Anyone who appears intoxicated will be refused entry or removed from the session without refund - we want you to have fun, but safety is our priority!

Can someone come just to watch?

They can, but due to space and safety:

  • Non-participating carers may be limited per session

  • A £10 surcharge applies for protective clothing if they enter the splat area

How do I book?

All bookings are made online via our website.
Full payment is required at the time of booking, and joining instructions must be completed before arrival. The joining instructions link is on the booking confirmation.

Do you offer group discount?

We are striving to keep our costs as low and accessible as possible so we can’t offer discounts at this time.

How many can you host?

It depends on which SplatLab location you’d be coming to - please check our locations page for specific info.

What if I don’t complete the joining instructions?

Completing the joining instructions is mandatory before participating in a splat sesh.  To save you losing any session time, we encourage you fill them out in advance.  You will find the link on your order confirmation email.

Is SplatLab accessible?

We aim to be as inclusive as possible. If you have specific access needs, please contact us before booking so we can advise and plan with you.
